Great food! Great service! Came in for breakfast. They have a good menu selection. My wife and I are frequent visitors and we are never disappointed.

Elizabeth Stellar Chows On Delcious Ribs ! Elizabeth Stellar was so small and tiny but she faced down a giant plate of barbecued ribs at the Old Twohey's In Alhambra California bextit South Pasadena Nobody knows for sure except the wife of the late Jack Smith sportswriter for the Los Angeles times.

Hey guys, this morning on abc news they announced that two ees was sending out their food truck today to help feed families. I guess that' means that the famous historic neighborhood eatery isn't dead. Let's support the food truck today over at the new location on FairOaks.

This was an underwhelming meal (aside from the onion rings, in a setting that baaadly needed attention (booths were so torn up), although the line at 8pm on a Friday was long (lots of regulars) and the service was extremely pleasant. We've lived in South Pas for over a year now and alllllways pass Twohey's on the way to doing stuff on the weekends driving on Huntington. We've also seen the coming soon sign on Fair Oaks and have been talking about visiting for a while now. We went for it this past Friday for a 8pm dinner, right before doing the Pasadena Triathlon, which was a questionable choice for us to fuel up at a burger joint. Oh well!! We got the DAB burger, a milkshake, onion rings and a Cobb salad to split for two. This was more than enough! I had a hard time deciding between soup or salad and the waiter was kind enough to bring samples of their chili and curry clam chowder. Although both were delicious, I didn't want to risk any bathroom problems before race day so I went for the salad. The meal was underwhelming as we'd been talking about this place for months and had high hopes for an awesome diner experience. However, we had some of the best onion rings. Our server was super nice and I appreciated the soup samples he brought out to help us decide. The menu is extensive in burgers, sandwiches, salads and shake but fairly limited in everything else. Not sure when the new Twohey's will actually open but would be interested to see how they transpose the atmosphere into an updated space!!

Nice clean burger with a side of garlic fries! Couldn't resist the bittersweet sundae that I had heard so much about :) As you can see I'm a very happy camper! Can't wait to see the new location.

My hubby love eating here for solo breakfast so I decided to join him on a Sunday in early January. It was 9am and available parking before 10:30am. We were seated right away and the place had some regulars eating there. I ordered the craftsman plate w/2 eggs, thick bacon, crispy hash brown, toast and/ butter. While waiting for food, the booths looks worned down and fun to people watch. My plate arrived and everything was delicious. Our waitress was nice and friendly and good on refills. I was full and hard to walk it off. This is the last tine I eat at this location before it moves to South Pasadena.

This place hasn't changed in decades. I came here recently to meet up with some friends. The last time I ate at Twohey's was in 2002. I guess it's old décor doesn't matter since they're looking to move soon to South Pasadena. So, I guess why not keep the décor pre 2000. Anyways, I had the spaghetti in meat sauce which was pretty good. Not as good as Scott Conant's version at Scarpetta, but nice and hearty. Came with crispy face garlic butter bread. The reason for the 4 stars: the pecan pie. Love me some pecan pie. Especially if has a does of bourbon poured in it. Decent sized slice where you feel satisfied unlike the tiny piece that you get from The Pie Hole. Service here is good and attentive. Sayonara to this Twohey's location. Good luck at your new and hopefully, modern location in South Pas. Just keep serving that pecan pie and I'll come visit more often..

Like everyone else in L.A. who follows restaurant news...I heard that Twohey's, the iconic Alhambra coffee shop since 1943 was closing down on 2/1/18! So, of course, I made a beeline out there to experience it! Saturday afternoon and that crazy parking lot situation was the first thing we had to deal with. The shared lot with In n' Out makes for a chaotic scene but I did find street parking after circling around. The exterior has that old-school neon sign that I love. It appears to be a huge space from the intersection waiting for the light to change. Inside, the interior is charming old-school coffee shop done in Tomorrow-Land-like pastels in peach and mint. We sat at the counter (faster than waiting 30 minutes for a booth!) and Carmen was the best waitress ever! She kept my passion fruit iced tea, $3.75, filled to the brim and even gave me a full to-go cup of it when I was leaving. Mom had the Philly Cheesesteak, $12.95, with their homemade coleslaw. I had the Everything Burger, $10.95 and added onion rings for $4.95. Everything was super delicious. We started with their famous Curry Clam Chowder soup which sounds strange but was very tasty. I only ate half of my burger so I could save room for dessert! Of course I had the bittersweet chocolate sundae, the small size, $6.75. The bittersweet chocolate is definitely different but ultimately satisfying. Yum. Our total bill for two was $49.33 without tip so it's not inexpensive! But I thought the quality and the fun atmosphere was worth it. History: Jean & Jerry Twohey (family name!) opened a 37-seat burger place and soda fountain in 1943 on Arroyo and moved to the current location, which ran a car-hop service from the 1950's to the mid 70's. Ah those were the days I bet! The current owners are the Christos Family. Also known as 2EE's, they just celebrated 75 years! And did you know how their Stinko Burger was named? Mr. Twohey overheard a female patron call the gentleman's burger next to her a "stinko" since it was generously garnished with raw onions and pickles. I am hoping they come to an agreement regarding their lease. There's hope! As I was leaving, I heard talk of a month-to-month lease that's slated for about 4 more months. It was an honor to experience a little bit of old-time California restaurant history at Twohey's. I'm hoping to be back soon. Yelp Challenge 2018: 9/100
